Ismail Isaev has been detained on spurious charges of “aiding and abetting an illegal armed group” in pre-trial detention facility in Chechnya’s capital Grozny for over four months. Ismail Isaev might face up to 15 years in jail. He is being prosecuted on spurious charges solely for exercising his right to freedom of expression, including in connection with their real or perceived sexual orientation and gender identity, and must be immediately released.
