Rebhi Karaja is a social and behavioural science student at Birzeit University. He was previously arrested in 2017 and sentenced to eight months in prison on charges related to student activism. Most recently, Rebhi was arrested in 2019 and spent 105 days under interrogation, where he was subjected to brutal physical and psychological torture, including 50 days of solitary confinement. The list of charges against him include his student activism with the Democratic Progressive Student Pole at Birzeit University, an association deemed unlawful by Israeli military orders, and for “failing to prevent a crime” by not informing occupation authorities about a friend’s intended military operation. Rebhi is currently under trial awaiting a sentence, he is detained in Ofer prison.
